Choose Life: Prayer for the Child in the Womb
Lord Jesus, you are the source and lover of life.
Reawaken in us respect for every human life.
Help us to see in each child the marvelous
work of our Creator.
Open our hearts to welcome every child as a
unique and wonderful gift.
Guide the work of doctors, nurses and
midwives.
May the life of a mother and her baby in the
womb be equally cherished and respected.
Help those who make our laws to uphold the
uniqueness and sacredness of every human life,
from the first moment of conception to natural
death.
Give us wisdom and generosity to build a
society that cares for all.
Together with Mary, your Mother,
in whose womb you took on our human
nature,
Help us to choose life in every decision we
take.
We ask this in the joyful hope of eternal life
with you, and in the communion of the
Blessed Trinity.
Amen.
Our Lady of Knock, pray for us.
All the Saints of Ireland, pray for us.

Pentecost 2013
Today we celebrate the Feast of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit was poured out upon the Apostles as Jesus promised. Today sees the birth of the Church. Now filled with the gifts of the Spirit the Disciples preach the Good News without fear in the streets of Jerusalem.
We too have received the Holy Spirit at Baptism and & Confirmation …
The Holy Spirit is God’s gift and guide throughout life.
The Holy Spirit in us brings about wisdom:
a refreshing sense of what really matters in life.
The Holy Spirit in us brings about understanding:
the sensitive insight into what makes people and things tick.
The Holy Spirit in us brings about right judgement:
the discerning skill that guides us towards good choices.
The Holy Spirit in us brings about knowledge:
quickly putting us in touch with what is worth knowing and acting on.
The Holy Spirit in us brings about courage:
drawing us beyond our fears to show love for God and others.
The Holy Spirit in us brings about reverence:
making us careful, respectful and kind.
The Holy Spirit in us sharpens our sense of God’s presence
in the mysteries of life, love, death, and nature.
In these times of heightened awareness and sensitivity,
the Holy Spirit in us gives us pause for wonder and awe.

THE SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION
AS PART OF THE YEAR OF FAITH POPE BENEDICT HAS ASKED US ALL TO REDISCOVER THE SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION
Resource to have from St Anthony Communications CONFESSION THE FORGOTTEN SACRAMENT @ £9.95 ……
This short but powerful film begins by explaining the reality and gravity of sin and the effect it has on our lives and the lives of others. You then discover the Biblical roots of the need for a confession of sins, and the institution of Confession as a sacrament by Jesus Christ. Although presenting sin in its true light, this film focuses on the love and mercy of God – that although we are all sinners, He is always waiting, patiently, lovingly, fatherly, for us to return.
